ImagXpress 13 for ActiveX - User Guide > How To > View an Image > Define Image Display Properties > Set Display Bit Depth |
If the image to be displayed has a greater bit depth than the monitor supports, then ImagXPress® will down sample the image when sending it to the display device.
In some cases, it may be necessary for the application programmer to artificially set the display device to a lower bit depth than the hardware supports (for example, to simulate the application's performance and appearance on a VGA monitor).
Use the DisplayMode property to get and set the maximum color depth to use on the display device. If DisplayMode is set to TrueColor, 24-bit images can be rendered to display. If DisplayMode is set to PaletteColor, 8-bit images can be rendered and if DisplayMode is set to VGAColor, 4-bit images can be rendered.
